Author Interview: Lars Kepler, THE SANDMAN

March 4, 2018

I’m absolutely thrilled to share today’s interview with CBTB readers! Lars Kepler is the author behind the internationally-bestselling Joona Linna series - and this week, their brilliant thriller THE SANDMAN releases in the US. From the moment I first started reading THE SANDMAN by Lars Kepler (Knopf; 3/6/18) in the fall of 2017, I knew it would be a strong contender for my favorite read of 2018… and I stand by that first impression! Today's interview discusses everything from the book's vivid characters to the research that went into writing this dark thriller - and a whole lot more.

Author Q&A: Yrsa Sigurdardottir, THE LEGACY (Children’s House Series)

February 12, 2018

Today (2/13/18) is publication day for THE LEGACY by Yrsa Sigurdardottir, an outstanding crime novel that launches a new series for Iceland’s Queen of Crime in the US! THE LEGACY is an exceptional blend of methodical police procedural and dark, horror-inspired imagination—a potent combination that delivered one of my early-favorite 2018 reads. I’m delighted to welcome Yrsa Sigurdardottir to Crime by the Book today to talk crime writing, her new series, where she gets all her twisted ideas from, and a whole lot more.

January 6, 2018

I’m delighted to welcome author Will Dean to Crime by the Book today to chat about his debut thriller, DARK PINES! This book has garnered major buzz in the book blogging community, and it’s easy to see why: from its gorgeous cover to its ambitious female protagonist to its author’s fascinating backstory, this is a debut with huge appeal - and a read that delivers. I was thrilled to have a chance to ask a few questions of Will - and was fascinated by what I learned about his book. Read on for more information on DARK PINES, and to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the book from the author himself!

Three Days and a Life Lemaitre.jpg

Author Q&A: Pierre Lemaitre, THREE DAYS AND A LIFE

November 6, 2017

It’s my absolute pleasure to welcome to CBTB today Pierre Lemaitre, the author behind arguably my favorite psychological thriller, BLOOD WEDDING, and the brand-new THREE DAYS AND A LIFE, which releases from Quercus today, 11/7/17! This is truly one of the most thoughtful Q&A’s I’ve had the pleasure of hosting on Crime by the Book, and I hope you will enjoy reading it as much I have enjoyed putting it together! Many thanks to Pierre for taking the time to answer my questions so thoughtfully, and to the publisher for facilitating this Q&A.

Fear Kurbjuweit square.jpg

Author Q&A: Dirk Kurbjuweit, FEAR

October 3, 2017

There are a select few authors where, whenever I see their name associated with anything, I simply must investigate their connection to it. Dutch writer Herman Koch is one such author for me. When I saw his fantastic praise quote for German crime novel FEAR by Dirk Kurbjuweit (on sale this week - 10/3/17), I knew right away this was a book I had to read—and I am so glad that I listened to that instinct. Thanks to Kurbjuweit’s US publisher, I had the opportunity to ask a few of my most pressing questions of the author of FEAR, which will surely be one of the smartest and most unsettling books I’ll read this year.
