Book Review: THE BREAKDOWN by B.A. Paris

March 20, 2017

B.A. Paris’ debut psychological thriller, BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, was one of my most-recommended crime books last summer, and I was beyond excited to get my hands on a copy of her next thriller, THE BREAKDOWN. While THE BREAKDOWN doesn’t deliver quite the same addictive, spine-tingling suspense as did BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, I still found myself hooked on this wholly entertaining story. This book is the epitome of a “beach read” if ever there was one.

Book Review: THE UNDESIRED by Yrsa Sigurdardottir

February 14, 2017

If you’re looking for a crime book recommendation that will give you goosebumps and make you think twice about turning out the light, look no further than Yrsa Sigurdardottir’s THE UNDESIRED. This unnerving, atmospheric Icelandic novel completely got under my skin, from its in-your-face opening to its utterly chilling final sentence.

Book Review: THE OWL ALWAYS HUNTS AT NIGHT by Samuel Bjork

February 9, 2017

Samuel Bjork’s U.S. debut I’M TRAVELING ALONE is one of my favorite books, and I’ve been eagerly anticipating Book 2 in the series, THE OWL ALWAYS HUNTS AT NIGHT, for ages now. While this book didn’t fully live up to its predecessor for me, I still thoroughly enjoyed it, and would recommend it for fans of I’M TRAVELING ALONE who want to spend more time in Mia Kruger’s world.

Book Review: NEVER LET YOU GO by Chevy Stevens

January 30, 2017

NEVER LET YOU GO is a chilling, engrossing glimpse into an abusive relationship and the fallout from this violence. This domestic thriller is unique for its unconventional plot structure, its rich characterization, and its wholly immersive story of love gone very, very wrong.
