Top 5 New To Me Authors.JPG

CBTB's Top 5 "New to Me" Authors From 2017

December 28, 2017

There’s nothing like that feeling of finding a new-to-you author whose books you love. In this blog post, I’m thrilled to share with you the top five “new to me” authors whose work made a lasting impression on me this year! This list is a blend of debut authors and established writers -- what they all have in common is simple: 2017 marked the first time I explored their work, but it won’t be the last time I dig into their books. If you haven’t read these authors yet, let this be your inspiration to check them out - they’re fantastic.

Photo Tour of Siglufjörður with Ragnar Jonasson (DARK ICELAND)

November 30, 2017

If you haven't yet discovered Ragnar Jonasson's outstanding Dark Iceland mystery series,  now is the perfect time to start. Influenced in equal measure by the stunning beauty of Iceland and the equally stunning plotting of Queen of Crime Agatha Christie, these books will make the perfect choice for winter reading material - or for any season, really. On December 5th, 2017, American readers are in for a treat: the second book in the Dark Iceland series, NIGHTBLIND, will be released in the US! To help celebrate this upcoming publication, I’m thrilled to provide you with an insider’s glimpse into Siglufjörður, the Icelandic town that provides the backdrop for this internationally-bestselling crime fiction series.

Re-Read Book Review: THE SNOWMAN by Jo Nesbø

October 12, 2017

Jo Nesbø’s Harry Hole series is without a doubt my all-time favorite. Of this series, THE SNOWMAN (Book 7) has been my favorite series installment (and book in general!) for years now. When the news broke that this book would be adapted into a film starring Michael Fassbender, I had to celebrate! In that spirit, I spent the month of September re-reading THE SNOWMAN and leading a virtual book club for this brilliant read in anticipation of the movie’s release. This post will share my experience re-reading THE SNOWMAN, and includes an FAQ's section detailing the questions I most commonly receive about THE SNOWMAN.

The Man Who Died Tuomainen.jpg

Blog Tour | Book Review: THE MAN WHO DIED by Antti Tuomainen

October 8, 2017

I’m delighted to be on the blog tour today for the newest book from the King of Helsinki Noir, Antti Tuomainen! Tuomainen’s newest, THE MAN WHO DIED, is engaging and immersive; readers looking for a new crime read with a dash of dark humor and plenty of personality will find their perfect match in this Finnish crime novel. I’m not usually a reader who looks for humor in their crime fiction, but Tuomainen’s smart and poignant story delivered the perfect blend of thrills, investigation, character development, and comedy to keep me engaged from the first page to the last. THE MAN WHO DIED is yet another example of publisher Orenda Books’ sharp eye for unique, original crime fiction; it’s smart, sensitive, and engaging, and guaranteed to be unlike anything else in your crime fiction library.
