September 1, 2020

The best time of year is upon us! As we head into the chillier months of the year, now is the perfect moment to start stocking up on some equally-chilling reads. In today’s blog post, I’m rounding up my personal most-anticipated releases of Fall 2020! This list by no means encompasses all of the thrilling new crime books that will be published this fall, but it does highlight the books I’m personally most excited to read, and most excited to talk about with you! For ease of reference, I’ve organized this blog post in order of publication date. Some of these books I’ve already been lucky enough to read, others are still on my fall TBR list—but all of them look poised to deliver some truly outstanding crime fiction storytelling. Dive into this blog post and start building your own Fall 2020 crime fiction reading list!

My Quarantine Reading List (So Far)

April 15, 2020

I’ve officially been in lockdown for a full month now, and I thought I’d mark this very odd milestone with a different kind of blog post: a roundup of the crime books I’ve read so far in my time staying home! I’m very fortunate to be able to work from home, which has been keeping me quite busy over the past few weeks—but when I’m not busy working, I’m busy reading. In these crazy times, I’m more thankful than ever before for a great crime book to escape into when I need to clear my head, and the books I’ve been devouring in lockdown have been doing an excellent job of that! My lockdown reading list includes a mixture of upcoming releases and older titles I’m finally making time to read. For any book on this list that hasn’t yet been published, I’ve included two suggestions for books you can dip into right away, just in case you’re in the market for a new quarantine read yourself. As always, happy reading!

Best Psychological Thrillers of 2018

December 26, 2018

Twisty plots, unreliable characters, binge-worthy pacing—there’s so much to love about a really good psychological thriller, and 2018 gifted us crime readers with tons of excellent options to add to our reading lists. Over the course of the year, we saw fantastic new releases from longstanding authors to debut authors and everyone in between; we immersed ourselves in psychological thrillers laced with gothic suspense, creepy summer camps, murderous family members, and, yes, even beetle collecting. There truly was a fantastic variety of psychological suspense released in 2018—and today on the blog I’m rounding up my very favorite psychological thrillers of the year! Read on for my picks for twisty, addictive, page-turning 2018 suspense.

November 23, 2018

This past weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Reykjavik, Iceland for Iceland Noir 2018 - a crime fiction festival that takes place in Iceland's capital city every other year. And what an incredible trip it was! In this blog post, I’ll be sharing a day-by-day recap of my time in Iceland, including panel notes, book recommendations, lots of photos, and a whole lot more. A huge thanks to the entire Iceland Noir team for organizing such a memorable festival!

CBTB's Recommended June 2018 Releases

June 16, 2018

June has brought with it some outstanding new crime fiction releases! Whether you’re in the market for a dark and twisted psychological thriller, a suspense novel exploring the pressures of motherhood, or an immersive and atmospheric police procedural, there’s a little something for everyone on sale this month. Along with my four picks for June Recommended Releases, I’m also including a roundup at the bottom of this post highlighting three new June releases I haven’t had a chance to read yet, but which I’m hoping to get to sooner or later! (Because the saying "so many books, so little time" is way too real.) Happy reading!
